Report: N.C. Community College Could Lose Funds

WILLIAMSTON — Martin Community College trustees have one month to provide a “corrective action plan” that addresses leadership, governance and financial concerns or the state will withhold funding from the college.

The state Board of Community Colleges issued the directive as part of a report Friday outlining concerns including spending irregularities, long-term vacancies in 16 leadership positions, micromanagement by the college president, and a concentration of power in the trustees’ executive committee.
