Prince George’s Community College Pays Off Nearly $3M of Student Debt

Prince George’s Community College has decided to eliminate the outstanding balances of currently enrolled students who attended the institution between March 13, 2020, and Aug. 20, 2021.

PGCC Vice President of Student Affairs Tyson Beale told WJLA-TV (Channel 7) that more than $2.87 million of debt was paid using the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed last year.

Beale said about 4,000 students benefited from the debt forgiveness.
