The Ventura County Community College District is among college districts statewide dealing with the problem of fraudulent applications for financial and pandemic-related aid.
County college district officials told the Acorn its enrollment departments at its three campuses—Ventura, Oxnard and Moorpark—have been catching potentially fraudulent financial aid applications before students are enrolled and receive payments.
The California Student Aid Commission told the Los Angeles Times last week that it had identified more than 65,000 suspicious applications.
