An unexpected root canal or a sudden car repair might just be an inconvenience to many, but for students who are already financially pressed, those kind of small emergencies can have long-lasting effects.
“Students drop out because of things like that,” said Heike Heinrich, director of student success programs at Cleveland State University.
Cleveland State is one of a small number of local four-year colleges and universities that will this fall begin offering the Dash Emergency Grant through Madison, Wis.-based Great Lakes Higher Education Corp. & Affiliates.
