When 18-year-old Ehkhu Soe graduated from Utica Academy of Science Charter School in June, he was the first in his family to graduate.
And in two years, Soe, who has nine siblings, expects to be the first to earn an associate degree.
Soe, a Burmese refugee, moved to the United States from a Thai refugee camp five years ago, in part because his parents wanted their children to get a better education, he said.
