Tidewater Community College announced Tuesday its sixth president will be Marcia Conston, a vice president at a community college in Charlotte, N.C.
She’ll move from Charlotte, North Carolina, and start early next year, according to a news release from the school.
Conston has worked in higher education for 30 years in Mississippi, South Carolina and North Carolina. She’s also been an evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, where she has examined 14 schools, including two in Virginia, for reaccreditation. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Jackson State University in Mississippi, a master’s from Hood Theological Seminary in North Carolina and a doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi.
