No one in Jessica Troupe’s family had ever been to college before, but she knew it was the path for her.
She also knew there was a lot she didn’t know — including how to pay for it.
The Moreno Valley native enrolled in a single class at Moreno Valley College in 2010, then found her way to Umoja, a program to help students earn their degree and transfer to a four-year school. Three years later, armed with knowledge about how to navigate college schedules and financial aid forms, she transferred to UC Riverside.
