Industry, Education Leaders Make a Promise

Dr. Matt Johnson had the floor, as they say, during a meeting to discuss what would become “The Cherokee County Promise,” an incentive program for students unveiled at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Cherokee on Wednesday.

In essence, the program covers the cost of tuition and fees after financial aid has been applied for residents of Cherokee County enrolling in programs offered through the WITCC campus in the Cherokee County seat. In exchange for the financial assistance, students commit to working and living in Cherokee County for three years after they graduate.
