It appears the new thing in vogue is the idea that college should be free to everyone.
From Sen. Bernie Sanders to Hillary Clinton, the topic has graced the lips and ears of many in politics, but as usual, their words are rarely supported by action.
However, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam has proven in recent years to be a leading advocate for higher education access, launching programs to ensure access to either free or low cost college education. While Haslam’s motivations are pure and his programs appear to be beneficial, a different story unfolds beneath the surface.
